Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 16, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how SimpliFixed Technologies LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information in connection with SpeakOwn (the "Service"). It applies to our website (speakown.com) and our desktop application.
1. Information We Collect
Account & billing information. When you subscribe, we collect your email address and, via Stripe, information necessary to process payment. We do not collect or store your full card number, CVC, or bank details ourselves — Stripe handles that directly and shares with us only what's needed to manage your subscription (e.g., your email, a Stripe customer/subscription identifier, and your subscription status).
License & usage data. We store your license key, subscription status, and renewal date to verify access to the Service. Our servers log dictation requests only to the extent needed to enforce per-license rate limits and detect abuse; we do not retain the audio or text content of those requests on our servers after processing.
Dictation audio and text. When you dictate, your audio is sent from the app to our server, forwarded to our transcription/cleanup provider (currently Groq) for processing, and the resulting text is returned to your device. We do not store this audio or text on our servers. What happens to it on your own device afterward is controlled entirely by your local app settings — you can choose to keep a local dictation history, have it auto-deleted every 24 hours, or never store it at all. Groq's own handling of data it processes is governed by Groq's privacy policy and our agreement with Groq; we do not permit our infrastructure providers to use your content to train their models.
Support communications. If you contact us through the website's contact form or by email, we collect your name (if provided), email address, and message content to respond to you.
Website usage & cookies. We use a first-party cookie to record, on your first visit, which marketing campaign (if any) referred you — for example, a link from an advertisement — so we can measure which channels are effective. This cookie does not track you across unrelated websites. If you arrive via an X (Twitter) advertisement, we may also send X a hashed (irreversible) version of your email address and the ad click identifier so X can report on ad performance; see Section 4.
2. How We Use Information
- To provide, maintain, and verify access to the Service
- To process payments and manage your subscription
- To respond to support requests
- To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or technical issues
- To measure and improve our marketing (via aggregated, hashed, or pseudonymous data as described above)
- To comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your dictated audio or text to train AI models.
3. Legal Basis for Processing (EEA/UK Users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we process your information on the following bases: performance of a contract (providing the Service you subscribed to), legitimate interests (fraud prevention, service security, and measuring marketing effectiveness), and consent (where required, such as certain cookies).
4. Third-Party Service Providers
We share information with the following categories of service providers, each of which processes it under their own privacy terms:
- Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing
- Groq — speech-to-text transcription and text cleanup
- Resend — transactional email delivery (e.g., support replies)
- Railway — application hosting and database infrastructure
- X (Twitter) Ads — hashed email and ad-click identifiers, solely for customers who arrive via an X advertisement, used to measure ad conversion performance
We do not otherwise sell or rent your personal information to third parties.
5. Data Retention
We retain account, billing, and license data for as long as your subscription is active and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations and to resolve disputes. Dictation audio and text are not retained on our servers beyond the time needed to process a single request. Local dictation history on your device is retained according to the setting you choose in the app.
6. Data Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect information in transit and at rest, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) between the app, our servers, and our infrastructure providers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact [email protected]. You can manage your subscription and billing details directly through the Stripe customer portal linked from the app's Settings, and you fully control local dictation storage from the app's Settings at any time.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. International Data Transfers
We and our service providers may process and store information in the United States and other countries. By using the Service, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries with data protection laws different from those in your country of residence.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
